WOOD MARKING TOOLS

  1. EQUIPMENT LIST:
    1. THE BARCODED SPECIAL TAGS:

Our Live-Tree and Timber (Log) marking tools are designed based on the working environments and needs of our customers in forests. Our plastic tags are designed in such a way that the prints and barcodes are not affected by the weather conditions, even if long time passes by.  Our plastic tags are produced on durable manufacturing techniques. The advantages of the laser writing technique (compared to the classical writing techniques) is that it can offer endless configuration possibilities in writing, pictures, and requests of customers. Other than the standard information, the barcodes can be printed and laser scanners can read these barcodes. Therefore, all customer information can be entered in one time.
The plastic tags with barcoded prints are manufactured in a perfect and unique technology. On one face of these plastic tags, there are barcodes and writings based upon the wishes of the customers, and there are claws (nails) that enters into the face of the new-cut timber once pounded (hit) by our special hammer. These nails are very strong, and stay in place against mechanical damages and outside effects.

    1. THE TAG HOLDERS:

There are chargers that hold 40 plastic tags, and they are being pulled out by the help of the Wood Marking Hammer, taking one single tag in every time of strike. The inside portion of the Tag Holder is equipped with spring (a tag-pushing) system in order the user to be able to take the tags in most comfortable way. This system also helps the user to place the tag-charger into the chamber of Tag Holder, by one hand.

    1. THE WOOD MARKING HAMMER:

As Uluçınar Company, we are offering universal marking hammers that are convenient for all wood marking tags. One side of these hammers is suitable for marking, as the other sides are suitable for impressed stamps (embossed stamps)

    1. THE HAND TERMINALS:

The hand terminals are working on-line with the Data System of TURKISH FORESTRY GENERAL DIRECTORATE. Once the barcode reading hand terminals are set according to the job and section to be worked on, the laser reader of the hand terminal scans the barcode of the plastic tag, and a new entry is opened up for every live-tree and for every cut timber. The diameters, lengths, types, and section information is digitally entered by the help of hand terminals (or barcode reading electronic tablets). The hand terminals are optimized for easy and apparent use.

  1. THE MAIN MECHANISM OF OPERATION:

2.1) STRIKING THE TAGS:
The plastic tags are being taken out from the Tag Holder by the help of Wood Marking Hammer, and hammered into the head of a cut-timber or a suitable place of a standing live-tree (to the thicker side of the timber (log), and/or to the opened-cut-face of the standing live-tree)

2.2) TO HAVE THE TAG SCANNED BY THE HAND TERMİNALS:
The plastic tags that are pounded onto the timbers (logs) or live-trees are scanned by the hand terminals, and the necessary information is entered by hand from the keyboard. The Sections, officials’ codes, and standard information are being entered so that, that very specific timber (log) or live-tree is being called out by that number from now on. The information is saved for future use, and then transferred onto ORBIS System (The Database of Turkish General Directorate of Forestry). We can make production lists based on the entered information.

If one plastic tag falls down and gets lost, or damaged during process, that tag is cancelled, and a new tag is assigned. Even though all the tags are numerical and are in sequence, we do not have to number of the lost or damaged tags based on the similar numeric. We can take the very next tag, and tag out the logs or live-trees, as the old one is voided.

  1. THE ADVANTAGES OF THE SYSTEM:

3.1) SAVING THE LABORFORCE: Since the data entry is being done at the very beginning of the process in forests at one time, this method saves other work in other parts of the forests, and reduces similar work and efforts.
3.2) SAVING TIME: Since the data entry is made one time at the place of product, and the necessary checks and controls are done by the barcoded tags system, the work will be faster and so much time is saved.
3.3) THE PRECISON AND SPEED OF DATA ENTRY: The Human Errors and Bad İntentions are prohibited - avoided. Plus, the Managing Bodies can reach information much faster (on-line) providing convenience of follow-ups, controls, and evaluations. In addition, the data-entry mistakes are prevented and mistakes of controls and checks are avoided, since the entry is being made at one-time at the very beginning.
3.4) ILLEGAL HARVESTINGS AND LOSSES ARE PREVENTED: Since the questioning, control and check out of every tagged and logged in timber (log) and every tagged and logged standing live-tree can be done in every level, the illegal harvesting and losses will be minimized. These logs (timbers) can be checked out in road check points and see if there are any logs without barcoded tags, as well.

In addition, since these logs and live-trees are in the responsibility of the forest officers, there will be less illegal harvesting and losses.
